Fire Safety Tips for Residents
- Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms every month and never remove the batteries.
- Never leave cooking unattended, and keep anything that can burn away from the stove.
- Keep hallways, stairwells and fire escapes clear at all times. Never prop open stairwell doors.
- Know two ways out of your apartment and your building.
- If there is a fire in your apartment, get out and close the door behind you. If the fire is elsewhere and your hallway is full of smoke, stay in your apartment with the door closed and call 911.
- Charge e-bike and scooter batteries only with the manufacturer’s charger, never overnight, and never blocking a door.
